"The story behind the name honors his great grandfather whom many called "Chief". Once I began researching different forms relating to the name, I found something interesting. In heraldry (family, kingdom crests and the like) the chief is the top third of the badge. Working with custom letterforms, the C in the acronym "CM" naturally found itself there. The M followed the form from there and placed a machining bit in the center for good measure and a bit of a subtle nod to the company.

The final form is strong and rigid much like the materials in which Chief Machining works with daily. A project that I'm proud of as well as had fun creating. Research is everything."
